The first series of cameras were made in Germany before production was moved to the new factory in Portugal. This was the first Leica made camera with electronic exposure control and proved extremely reliable.

Copal Leitz CLS electronic metal bladed:
Manual - whole stops from 4s to 1/1000s, X flash sync 1/90s, B "bulb" (X & B also usable without power)
Automatic - stepless from 4s to 1/1000s
Metering - Single cell in camera base for selective measurement, light reflected down by a secondary mirror behind the main mirror similar to SL / SL2. Two cells on the pentaprism for integrated "centre weighted" measurement. Electronic selection of either measurement in both exposure modes.
This version, the R3 MOT Electronic - Near the end of production a version of the camera was released capable of being fitted with a motor winder made by Eumig. Like the first batch of 2,000 cameras, the R3 MOT was made in Germany. Courtesy of camera-wiki
Details: This is a lovely LEICA R3MOT Leitz Electronic 35mm Film Camera with Wide Angle f2.8 28mm AICOSET P Lens and has only a small amount of age-related usage marks. No major scratches, bashes, or dings. It winds on and shoots and the light meter responds to changes in light. For the lens, the aperture opens and closes smoothly. There is some expected light dusting and usage marks in the elements and what does look to be the start of peripheral fungus. The camera and lens has been UVC sanitised. Please study the high-resolution photos closely to evaluate the condition as pictures speak louder than words. This is an ideal item for an avid collector or fan of 1970's Leica Camera equipment with the knowledge or inclination to carry out a lens clean if so desired.
